Chekkalu

 

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp chana dal
  • 1/3 to ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • ¾ tsp jeera or cumin
  • Few curry leaves

Method

Soak chana dal for 30 minutes
Drain the water after half hour and add 6 tbsp of water and 1tbsp of butter
Heat it till butter melts
Take the other ingredients in a bowl and mix well
Add the butter mixture to the rice flour and mix well. Take care as the mixture will be hot
Add warm water and make a smooth dough. Don’t knead 
Keep it covered. Make small balls, flatten them and fry in hot oil on medium-high flame till crisp
